Nunes is an artist and educator as well as a founding director of photography collective Tangent. In her previous role as a respected commercial and editorial photographer, Nunes worked with numerous publishers, designers and advertising agencies over a substantial period of time. Her images have won awards and been published locally and internationally. Nunes is currently Head of Department, Photo Media at Whitecliffe College, Auckland.

Her work has been shown in both group and solo exhibitions, and is held in several private collections. Nunes has been a finalist in the Glaistor Ennor awards and on several occasions in the Wallace Art Awards. More recently she has produced and directed several short films, including Pictures on Paper (2015) and Open Home (2016)

Utilizing still photography and film as tools of co-authorship with place, Nunes’ work operates in the complicated areas of land use, transgression and redemption.
